Survey on Education and Research Environment for International Students in Korea’s Graduate School of Science and Engineering

■ Survey Purpose (설문 목적)

According to Statistics Korea, as of 2022, there were a total of 86,562 graduate students in science and engineering in Korea, of which 8,321, or about 10%, were international students. This figure keeps increasing every year.

통계청 자료에 따르면, 2022년 기준 국내 이공계 대학원생은 총 86,562명이며 이 중 외국인 유학생은 8,321명으로 약 10%에 해당된다고 합니다. 특히 이 수치는 매년 꾸준히 증가하고 있습니다.

This survey aims to gather information about the overall environment for international graduate l students in the field of Science and Engineering in Korea, as well as their satisfaction. It includes a list of questions about types of research environment the international students are studying and researching in, and possible problems or difficulties in their lives. We hope that the survey will be used as a resource to enhance the quality of the research environment for foreign graduate students in Korea, whose numbers are growing every year.

본 설문은 국내 이공계 분야로 진학한 대학원 유학생을 대상으로 하여, 자신이 속한 연구실 혹은 학과에서 어떠한 연구 환경을 제공받고 있는지, 문제점과 애로점은 없는지 살펴보고자 합니다. 조사를 통해 날로 비중이 높아지고 있는 국내 외국인 이공계 대학원생들의 연구 환경을 개선하기 위한 자료로 활용되길 바랍니다.
