기원 치자나무 Gardenia jasminoides Ellis (꼭두서니과 Rubiaceae)의 잘 익은 열매
약성/귀경 쓰고(苦) 차고(寒) 독이 없다(無毒). 심(心)과 간(肝)과 폐(肺)와 위(胃)와 삼초경(三焦經)에 작용한다.
효능 사화제번(瀉火除煩), 청열이습(淸熱利濕), 양혈해독(凉血解毒) 사화(瀉火): a therapeutic method of removing pathogenic fire by using bitter-cold medicinals 청열양혈; 양혈(淸熱凉血; 凉血): a therapeutic method of using heat-clearing and blood-cooling medicinals to treat blood heat pattern/syndrome 해독(解毒): (1) measure to lessen the virulence of pathogens; (2) a method of neutralizing the toxic property of poisons
