Animal study suggests that very high dosages of estragole, found in tarragon, may increase the risk of liver cancer [13;14;15]. Based on in vitro research, 7-methoxycoumarin, isolated from tarragon, showed potent inhibitory activities against chemical mediator release from rat basophilic leukemia RBL-2H3 cells [16]. At this time it is not known if estragole is carcinogenic in humans.

[한약-양약 상호작용]
In human and animal research, guggul reduced total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol, and triglycerides, and increased high-density (HDL) cholesterol [26;27;8;28;29;30;31;32;33;34;35;24;36;37;38;39;40;41;42;43;44;45;46]. Other human research, however, demonstrated somewhat conflicting results [24;47;43;44;45]. Animal and in vitro experimentation has shown that guggulsterones are antagonists of the farnesoid X receptor (FXR) and the bile acid receptor (BAR), nuclear hormones that are involved with cholesterol metabolism and bile acid regulation [28;48;49]. A case report has noted rhabdomyolysis as a potential rare adverse effect of the use of Commiphora mukul to reduce cholesterol [50], though it is unclear if guggulipid affects the action of other agents used for cholesterol reduction.
