The COMP-MED is a joint program generated by the cooperation between the Department of Informatics and Bicocca's School of Medicine.

Translational medicine (TM) is an interdisciplinary branch of the biomedical field supported by three main pillars: ""benchside, bedside and community"". The main objective of the school is to provide clinicians, and computer scientists with theory, laboratories and case studies to extend and deepen the knowledge of the learning and inferences tools aiming to cope the complexity of TM's current challenges.

We are now generating and have access to vastly larger collections of data than have been available before.

Design data science oriented paradigms to support clinicians in their daily decisional processes is essential to providing the care most appropriate to each patient. In fact, while medicine defines itself as personalized, quantified (precision medicine) or in high definition, clinicians must be prepared to face a world in which data, processes and decisions are rapidly becoming more and more structured, and complex.

The goal is to combine disciplines, resources, skills to promote improvements in prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.
