Nowadays, worldwide economic growth has shifted much attention to the importance of mental and physical health. Such growth also introduces a dilemma. On the one hand, it increases health quality, social harmony, and community engagement. On the other, industrialization, urbanization, and technology could also potentially dismantle many traditional values, natural ecology, and community vitality.

The goal of the 10th International Conference of Indigenous and Cultural Psychology is to examine how various factors, particularly indigenous and cultural knowledge, could promote positive mental health, social harmony, and national competitiveness. It is our hope that these studies could inform us of ways to alleviate the devastating consequences of environmental disasters, societal poverty, community disintegration, social isolation and the experience of stress and depression. Seeing ways to integrate arts and humanities with natural and social sciences to understand creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship in promoting social harmony and national competitiveness also serves as another goal for this conference. Our ultimate goal, however, is to contribute to the development of a relevant, useful, and universal psychological knowledge which promotes indigenous, cultural and global understanding.
