The 6th meeting of the ESCMID Study Group for Legionella Infections (ESGLI) will be held in Athens, Greece 10-12 September, 2019. The ESGLI meetings, named until 2011 'European Working Group for Legionella Infections' (EWGLI) have been organised every year all over the Europe since 1986. This conference is a valuable and unique opportunity to meet other members of the community of European and international experts on Legionella.

The ESGLI 2019 conference will cover a wide range of topics related to Legionella and Legionnaires’ disease from basic microbial genetics and pathogenesis to applied aspects of detection, control and management. The goal of the meeting is to bring together researchers and professionals from all relevant disciplines in an applied context. The conference will present the latest scientific developments and knowledge about epidemiology and surveillance; clinical aspects and diagnosis; Host - Microbe interactions; Microbe - Environment interactions; outbreaks and case reports; genetics and genomics; prevention and control strategies.

Participation in this two-day meeting will undoubtedly enrich participant’s knowledge, facilitate scientific exchange and initiate new collaborations during the scientific and social programmes. The participation of students and scientists in the early stages of their careers is highly encouraged and special registration rates apply.

On behalf of the ESGLI Board I look forward to welcoming the Legionella community in Athens, for a meeting that will bring together the latest scientific advancements in the field of Legionella and the admirable panoramic views of this historical city.
